On a mission to find a homeschooling community
Leaving my marriage and becoming a single parent hasn’t been easy. Navigating the never-ending challenges of being a business owner is one hell of a roller coaster ride. If that wasn’t enough, I added homeschooling as a new passion project. With the heart of a mama bear, and with the mindset of an entrepreneur, I dove all-in into the waters of yet another of life’s projects.

Witnessing the evolving education revolution in the post-COVID world, I was convinced I was doing the right thing when I took that leap. Today, I’m convinced even more that this was the best decision.
More families are choosing smaller and simpler lifestyles followed by homeschooling and homesteading. Studies after studies reveal a significant rise in parents choosing this alternative path, driven by a deep concern for the current state of public education and political extremes. To me, it all seems like a revolution. The stats show that there are millions of us leaving the so-called “status quo” yet we are often labeled the “crazy” and “isolated” ones. I refuse to believe in this. As I am getting out there and meeting other homeschooling families I know that we might be still a minority, but hey!, what a powerful one!
Crafting a Community
Amidst this revolution, I am on a personal mission to create a community as a collective force. Recent studies show that California is one of the states with tremendous growth in the homeschooling movement. From a personal experience, I am not surprised to hear that. With those stats rising I’m aware of the need for different ways to come together as a community where we can all participate in the education revolution, and claim the right to raise our children in ways we, as their parents, feel are right.
As we recently moved to a small community in the Calaveras County Gold Country and started living a quiet and peaceful life I noticed the need to find my community is even stronger than before. My kids don’t make friends just by going to school anymore. I don’t have friends living 5 minutes away. We don’t have close (with the same-age kids) neighbors. We are all quite private people living on 10-acre lands. Life became more deliberate but not without new challenges.
I remember when I felt this way as a newly married immigrant with a newborn glued to my boobs. I felt lonely, lost, bored, depressed even, and that’s why this blog was created; out of the need to connect, to express myself, to find my people.
And here I am today. Reinventing and relaunching it out of the same need but under ever-evolving circumstances. It’s beautiful and profound.
An Invitation to Join
So, as 13 years ago, today I have a similar intent with this space. I would like to invite you to join the movement of redefining education, homesteading, and building a community of free-thinkers where we can all share experiences, exchange resources and support each other.
Together, we can embrace the challenge of building a better future for us, but mostly for our children. A future that celebrates the diversity of thought, resilience in adversity, and the entrepreneurial spirit so they can shape their own destinies.

Here are my favorite organizations and programs that add lots of value to the homeschooling community
Incredible Organizations Fueling Our Passion for Extracurricular Adventures!
KidBiz Hub

I have been hosting Morgan Hill Children’s Business Fair since 2021 and 2025 is my final year of doing it.
My passion for this event is stronger than anything I have ever experienced and since moving to the Gold Country I could not resist bringing this event with me.
With the help of another passionate homeschooling mom, we have decided to create an entrepreneurial program for kids plus organize the fair here in Gold Country.
Check out our website and feel free to join us!
Columbia State Historic Park

Since we moved to the Gold Country and started homeschooling I’ve been looking for meaningful activities for my girls – both on the older age side.
This task hasn’t been easy because there are so many enrichment programs for kids K-5 but not much for the older ones.
So when we found the Docent Program at the Columbia State Historic Park I knew we hit the jackpot. We became docents in 2023 and have been participating and enjoying many of their amazing programs.
HIGHLY recommend the program if you have pre and teens at home who are in need of outdoor and social time!
Calaveras Community TV
Someone shared their experience with CCTV during one of my workshops, sparking my curiosity! I was so excited that I reached out right away and visited the studio to explore everything they have to offer.
There I met with Sarah, the studio manager, and during this first meeting, we came up with the idea for the Young Filmmakers Club – a program where young kids can learn everything about filmmaking. Within two months of this first meeting, we gathered a group of interested kids, and the program was launched.
You can find more information about this program heading here
Lehrfeld Farm

I must admit that I left a part of my heart in Morgan Hill. There, I developed a lot of ideas for things that are happening in my life. There, I built my friends circle and my support community.
There, I met Carlie, my best friend and partner in crime.
Carlie’s attitude of “everyone is an artist” is amazing. Her art barn in San Martin, CA is a work of art itself. As a school teacher, she feels and knows from experience that current education needs a different approach, and she provides it on her farm.
If you are in the Morgan Hill area, Carlie’s farm, her art classes, and Summer camps are something you don’t want to miss. Go check it out!
Mo’s Devil Food

When we entered a new community, and new phase of life in Calaveras County, Morgan from Mo’s Devil Food Bakery was one of the most welcoming, generous, and community-oriented business owners I’ve met.
I love her attitude towards free-style learning while opening her own bakery to messy students!
Stay tuned for some fun posts about the sweet workshops we had with Morgan!
May The Art Be With You

I’m a Photographer & Videographer with a deep passion for art as a therapeutic way of self-expression and dealing with trauma.
In the past few years, I obtained a certificate in Be Body Positive Facilitator training
and as a Therapeutic Art Life Coach. So, more fun workshops and activities for entire families will be coming into this space. Stay tuned!
Children’s Business Fair

This event is an investment in a future where our children have the freedom to choose, innovate, and create a world that reflects their unique potential.
It takes a village
I am always looking for new partners to join our village. From a family-oriented community in Morgan Hill to a historic Gold Country, here, I will be sharing people, businesses, and other resources for outside-of-the-box education.
I will make sure to share interesting local resources for workshops, events, field trips, after-school activities, and more. If you’d like to be added to this list, and have something of value to offer to the homeschooling community, let’s chat!
