HomeSchooling

Choosing homeschooling is a profound decision. One I found myself facing some time ago. After many years of public education in 2022 I pulled my kids out of school, moved to the country, and started a new chapter in our lives. For me, like many parents who did the same, this was more than just an educational choice, it was a commitment to liberate my kids from a system that hasn’t been serving them well. It was to empower my kids with knowledge, critical thinking, a love for learning, and real-life skills.

It’s not a backup plan anymore. It’s a reality. A new reality where I want to create a safe place for myself, my girls, and other families just like us.

There is a crucial narrative shift I see and feel, as Connor Boyack describes it – “one of a rediscovery of the family as the primary community and the home as a fertile ground for learning”. There, kids are encouraged to learn critical thinking, understand economics, and embrace their role within the community, starting first with the family unit.

From concerns over school safety to discontent with political agendas in education – I think some of us parents are done with what we’ve felt we had to settle for in the past. I’m not looking to return to “normal”, I want to help to rewrite the entire education story.

The greatest gift we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence.

I think we’ve had enough! Education is not about books, tests, memorizing, repeating, and teaching obedience. It’s about preparing kids to be smart thinkers, good leaders, caring parents, and creative innovators. I want my kids to be intelligent and capable, not obedient and dependent.

In our living rooms turned into classrooms and conversations around dinner tables, we are committed to an education that celebrates each kid, sparks curiosity, creates a thirst for new capabilities, and stands for freedom.

Welcome to our Homeschooling Corner. I hope you stay.
