Photo Art Friday: Self-portrait

Well, I feel a little bit challenged. This week’s theme for Photo Art Friday is: “self-portrait”
I bet, many of you expect of me something great here, but I have been feeling a little (or a lot) under the weather lately, and all my plans for some real self-portraits photo session that I had in mind went to hell…

self-portrait (1 of 6)-Edit

Today I’ve decided to get a little creative with those few shots I managed to take this week and this is what I ended up with:

self-portrait (4 of 6)-Edit-2

In addition I took a few self-portraits for my giveaway that is going on my facebook page, and this is one of them:

lens bug (11 of 14)

oh… and how could I not share the latest news with you.
No. 2 is walking:

Hope everything is going well in your corner!

  8. Great images. Hope you’re feeling better. Thanks for sharing #2’s walking achievements. Such a wonderful milestone and she’s doing well to step along with that towel at her feet. Funny how the balance just isn’t refined enough yet to bend down and pick it up. Too cute!

    1. Ida, sometimes it just happens. I try to smile for the camera but then I see the picture and it looks awful. So then I simply “am” while the camera is clicking and although it’s not a very happy face but it’s natural and look way better then the forced smile.

And yes, with the No.2 walking now the fun begins!

  13. I was looking forward to seeing what you would come up with for this prompt and I was not disappointed, I love the quad piece so much. The video is simply wonderful. I read somewhere that a baby’s first attempt at walking is more like controlled falling! your video shows this so well. Congratulations to baby.

    1. glad to here you were not disappointed 🙂

I think you’re right with the controlled falling. It really looks like that. She is learning how to have more control over it, and it’s just so funny!

  14. Typical isn’t it, the one week the prompt seems to be designed just for you and you are not in a place to really enjoy it.

I love the video, she is adorable and the staggered first steps made me chuckle, I found they go from this to running in a very short amount of time.

Hope you are feeling better soon

    1. If I only remembered exactly what I did to this picture. Lets see:
2 pictures (and 1 copy of each what gave me 4 pictures) put together, moved around and each layer mode was “overlay” if I remember it right. That’s it, I guess.

  17. Your sadness shows in your pictures … you captured the mood in your face and turned it into art … but I was hoping for a little Mom smile when you showed us your lovely, now walking, daughter. Do get some rest and bring back that smiling face … how can you not smile with the little critter on your camera lens 🙂 Be well, Ewa … there are always better days to look forward to.

    1. I wanted to make this movie with more examples of her walking and falling, but it was already late and she got tired and very cranky. It is actually her first day of walking on this movie and I am so glad I was able to capture it.

And your portrait makes me smile….you captured YOU in different moods and emotions. Proving that we aren’t ALWAYS smiling and happy……it’s ok to be pensive. I really admire that you showed a different side of yourself.

It is actually good to be in this particular mood, sometimes. It makes me think about different aspects of my life and look at my life from a different perspective. Sometimes those thoughts turn to be very helpful in order to change the drift of my life, sometimes they don’t, though 😉

I hope your headache is gone by now! I know how that feels and it is not fun at all!!!

  26. With such a beautiful model, I think it would be very hard to make a “bad” self-portrait! You’re right about not feeling good–we’ve all been there and will be doubtlessly there again; nothing to do but accept it, feel it, get through it. You’ve made some very good artistic photos from this little bout of misery. Nice you rounded it out with the happiness of #2 walking!
