Visitin Nola’s Iris Garden

My attempt to garden photography starts with this post 🙂

Last Sunday we went to Nola’s Iris Garden. All of us. Even doggy! We’re always happy when “dogs are allowed “:) Over there I took too many pictures to put them into one post. I know I could not to post so many pictures, but it’s impossible. That place is amazing and I want to share every single corner of it.

I still, can’t get over how beautiful that place is. It’s the best place we’ve visited in San Jose so far. I’m not sure if my husband thinks the same way. He is not that crazy about the irises. Me neither. So? I’m not a big fan of those flowers but you should see that place. You don’t have to love them to fall in love in this place.

But liking or not I’ve found and fell in love in one variety which I’m gonna get someday.

They’ve got thousands of varieties of irises so there is a bit of walking around and looking at 🙂 This iris garden is the biggest display and grower in the Bay Area. They are open to the public during the blooming season. I’m not so sure how long is that. I think from April till the end of May.

Some of their names are really funny like “well endowed” which meant nothing to me until my husband explained it…hmm… you’ve got to be really out of inspiration to name a plant/flower like that.

My next post will be all about the names (I won’t post thousands of photos, don’t worry) and irises itself.

You’ve got to be careful on the way up there… why?! because of cyclist behaving badly… more likely because of the exhausted cyclists, and not behaving badly. You know, when you’re on you bike going up the VERY steep road, and you are about a half the way… you think: I can do it, I can do it, I can do it… I won’t get off, I won’t get off… If I make it I’m gonna eat the entire box of the ice cream waiting at the house, and the chocolate, and pasta, and the cake!!! everything!!! If I don’t make it I’m not gonna eat them! Nothing! I am strong! I am the best! I am strong, I’m the best! ICE CREAM! CHOCOLATE!!! CAKE!!! I am strong! I can do it! … and so on…

You muscles hurt, you have to stand up to be able to pedal, you’re soo INSIDE YOUR HEAD TALKING TO YOURSELF and actually you don’t see that you’re riding all over that damned road, from the right to the left and back. Behind you there is a line of drivers scared to pass you, pissed! I’ve been there I’ve done that.

Sooo beautiful!

Speaking about bicycles. This tiny one…

…stands there among the cut irises.

and they’ve got a doggy, too.

One cool motorcycle.

… and even coolest old car…

Oops! couldn’t help myself. Had to snap some reflected me 😉

Painting Red Lady. I’m not surprised that people go there to get inspiration! Really!

While walking around you can get some free coffee and cookies. they were already out when we got there. damn!

… and if you want to help, you’re more than welcome…

They’ve got more than irises over there… There are horses, and cows which I’ll post pictures of later.

Hope everybody had a good Memorial Weekend.

Hugs from my corner.

  2. Looks like a wonderful day in a beautiful place. No wonder that lady wanted to paint out there. Great subject matter. I have a vase full of Iris on my table right now. Just love the smell!

  3. Great photos 😀 The area you live in sure looks very American, such an empty space all around it, incredible :O Even if I drive for 2 hours out of the city, there are still houses around. I suppose after 2000 years of constant urban development one will not find any large empty spaces in Europe so easily. At least not in Western Europe…

  4. What a SUPER fun time captured so beautifully! Thanks for linking up with me- really made my day!
