With a camera in my hand, I feel like a superhero.

In my teen years, I struggled with mental health. Depression. Eating disorders.
Then I discovered photography. I was 15 years old. I often say that photography saved my life (probably not once).
This podcast interview is great if you would like to hear the story.
So, when I got my first camera as a 15-year-old, it became my best friend. Through the ups and downs of life, we marched together. With the camera in my hand, I felt invincible.
I had no plans or dreams of becoming a professional photographer, then.
Mom Photographer mothers Ewa Samples Photography

When I was a stay-at-home mom I started this blog: Mom Photographer.
A few years into blogging here I decided to open a photography business.
I remember going to my first sessions with my @ariesdragongirl who at that time was joint at the hip to me. Good old days. Lol
Over the last 12 years, I have become a trusted photographer and videographer by countless families, several schools, and quite a lot of small business owners, real estate agents, and a few magazines!
Transformation into May The Art Be With You

People found the name of my business confusing. They didn’t know how to pronounce it (well my first name that is). I never wanted to use my real name as the business name, but that was what was available to me at the time.
So I waited. Life tends to balance itself out, so one day I got it. The name came. And it stayed. That was after once again, photography saved my life – this time as an adult.
With those changes, I started offering educational programs for pre/teen and adults spreading the message of art as a medicine! I love teaching the youth, and adults, too, the art of photography because who knows… that might save someone’s life one day.

I asked Ewa to come to my library and teach a workshop to teens on Smartphone photography. It was awesome! She went over some of the basic skills and principles of photography, then she gave them tips and tricks for accessing more features on their smartphone cameras. She provided multiple opportunities for teens to practice and play with these new skills and features, and the teens loved it! They were all interested and engaged throughout the 2-hour workshop. I will absolutely work with Ewa again and recommend her to anyone who is looking to teach young people the principles of photography in an accessible way.

We wholeheartedly recommend Ewa. We were lucky enough to book her for both maternity and birth photography. She was so fun working with my kids, recommending locations, and being very natural on the shoot. The photos themselves took my breath away! I was on the fence about whether we should do maternity photos and I’m so grateful we did it. Ewa was incredibly professional during my birth experience and documented the birth in such a quiet and profound way. I’m forever grateful!
