Our Story

My name is Ewa (pronounced as Eva). I was born and raised in Poland and came to the United States when I was 26 on a student exchange program called Au-Pair Care. I was lucky to have the best host family ever!

I later met my husband, got married, had two daughters, and 5 dogs (over time, not at once), moved to different cities around the Bay Area, divorced, and now I’m single-parenting my daughters with the help of my current partner.

After Polish and Photography, English is my third language, so please no need to be grammar police when it comes to my posts. I often say shit funny, so take it with a grain of sand… would you. 😉

I started this website in 2009 when I was pregnant with my first daughter. As a stay-at-home mom, I devoted myself to cooking, crafts, and spending as much time with my cute kids as I could. We had quite the adventures. Many of them are documented here.

This blog became quite active when I started the 365 Self-Portrait Project. That project and my passion for photography led me to a photography business which I started in 2012.

After a year of trying to blog here AND on my business website I decided to pause this blog. I just couldn’t find the time and the energy to manage both.

I can say my life has a plethora of bad stories but it’s also very inspiring. I got to where I am today because of all the experiences, good and bad. Over the last 10 years, I tried to revive this website but life had different plans for me. Until now…

I decided to reactivate this blog to help me organize all the projects I have brought to life in the past years. I want to include my two daughters as the co-authors, so they can have a safe & supervised place to express themselves and share their homeschooling & life journey.

Moving forward I’m planning on making this place a resource for homeschooling families, entrepreneurs, moms from my community, and beyond. This is a place to share all the places we visit, people we meet, food we cook, crafts we make, a garden we try to grow, home projects we start and have a hard time finishing.

Great site, and great pictures! I have to get my camera out now and read one of the several books I have that tell my have to use the thing – I keep getting confused with all the settings that are available 🙂

thank you! and thank you for stopping by! Did your son say “mama”, already 😉
and I know that in the digital era the digital cameras can be very confusing, or very trappy (when you decide to stick only to “program” or “auto” mode). but actually it’s not that hard to lear the “manual” mode.
If you need some advices don’t hesitate to ask 🙂 I’ll try to help 🙂
      hugs,

What a wonderful story you have! Wow. I was an au pair in Madrid many moons ago at 19. Good to know you had such a good experience. And now that I see you’re behind the lens constantly, I realize you must have many cameras! You’re a professional! I really like this page! 🙂
    Made me smile.

Jennifer, thank you so much for your words. Indeed I have had a few cameras in my life. Started with old Russian film only camera (called Zenit). My first digital was Nikon D40, after that I had Nikkon D80 and now I have Nikkon D5000. Have dreams about better one, but for now it’s working perfect for me.

      Have a wonderful weekend!
      Hugs from my corner!

Hi, I heard about you from Pawel http://photobypawelp.wordpress.com/. I’m so glad he shared your page with me. I’m Polish as well and I came to states as Au Pair in 2009 and stayed like you. I never had a chance to learn cooking (our Polish traditional things) so I’m so glad to find you and have the chance to try your recipes and share them with my American family. Everything looks so yummy. Great Blog. Have a great day 🙂

Powoli wracam do siebie i do normalnego rytmu.
Jak będziesz miała jakieś pytania co do przepisów czy czegokolwiek to jestem do dyspozycji 🙂
      Pozdrawiam serdecznie!
