On-budget waterproof camera

Last Summer I decided I want to try underwater photography. I did quite a lot of researching on the equipment and realized I simply can’t afford it. No, mam! Even the waterproof cases – the ones I would trust to use, not the DIY ziplock bags.

So, I was kind of sad I had to miss on the great memories we had in the swimming pool last year.

I’ve considered getting a waterproof case for my Nikon. However, since that’s the only big girl camera I have and the only one I use for work I wasn’t thrilled about the idea of putting that camera underwater. The risk was too big for the future outcome. But I didn’t give up.

This year, I did a little more research focusing on the cheaper side of the waterproof photography without having to risk any of my precious devices in a first place. I was able to find something right up my alley. It’s a toy camera, really and I’ll be talking about it in more details in my next post.

It’s not perfect but it will do for now! E. is all about posing. And I am all about figuring this freaking thing out. First of all I need to find a good pair of googles to be able to see what the hell I’m shooting. Otherwise I feel like I am shooting blind for most part of being underwater. And I all want is to experiment on my two mermaids. 🧜🏻‍♀️🧜🏽‍♀️

I also know that certain phones are waterproof these days. iPhone 7 and up are supposed to be waterproof. And I heard it from a friends of mine who dived with hers. I also watched great numbers of YouTube videos of people using their phones underwater with no damage to the device. My phone is not waterproof. I’m the old school lady, just recently upgrading to iPhone 6. So, no diving with my phone.

I’ll be back very soon with a post richer in information about this camera (aka a review). There are things I like about this camera (like the fact that it’s waterproof!!! da!), and there are things I quite don’t get. So, stay tune for more.
