365 Self-Portrait Project (week 41st)

As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, I try to publish one or two posts in between each Friday, so there aren’t only self-portraits here.

Not everything always work out the way we want it… huh?

This week just flew by. I wasn’t very busy, though.

Or… maybe I was…

Having two kids is already a piece of work, so saying I wasn’t busy would be actually a lie. Two days without the husband. Sewing, crocheting, cleaning.

Yes, you read it right: I finally made my first sewing creation: skirt for No.1

Just look for me in the next Project Runway 😉

Oh… and I had a WONDERFUL photo shoot on Saturday. It was truly amazing.

On Friday, quick shot of my favorite belt (Yes, my belt, not my butt). I bought it about 10 years ago. It’s been with me through bad and good.

On Saturday I was the photographer

and she was the model:

and I snapped a few pictures of this guy:

Back in days he was my ESL teacher.

Today, a dear friend.

The next day there was a pain. A horrible pain.

My Little Darlin always gets in a picture. No matter if I want it or not.

Me envisioning something is a one thing, but making it happen… oh dear, that’s a different story.

On Tuesday husband was gone for almost all day, but before he left I’d made him banana pancakes for breakfast.

and later I’d tried to fix a small problem in something I’ve made for No.2:

Those leg warmers were a little too big on the top part and I had to do something to make them fit better.

Can’t really say I fixed it!

Did I mention that No. 1 always gets a way to be in a picture ;)
Did I mention that No. 1 always finds a way to get in the picture 😉

At least it all had inspired me to take some pictures of our cranky-not sleeping-but definitely yawning a lot No.2

With the husband gone for the day and my headache back, there was no way I could survive that day without any pills.

Ok,

I know those two picture are a little of a stretch.

Here, there is almost nothing of me… that tiny piece of my foot…

and here, there is not very visible reflection in our dog’s eye.

Photo Art Friday

But you know what, I took much better shots of our daughter having fun and that’s what matters the most. Those simple moments of happiness… all because there was a wind blowing in her face and leaves dancing around her.

I think we all could learn a lot from our kids. Mostly how to enjoy our life.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends. Get out there and feel the wind!

P.S

I’m sorry I didn’t have the chance to answer to all your comments from last week. I’ve been more into the real life than the Internet one this past week. It felt really good, actually. Maybe I should do it more often 😉

Super post. Loving the Leg Warmers on No. 2 and that shot of her yawning is so adorable.
No. 1 looks darling as well dancing in the leaves.

Your Model shots are fabulous – She’s a gorgeous woman.

Also like the shot of your belt and your piece for PAF. Well done.

It is so hard to juggle all the different things we want and need to do and sometimes one thing has to take a back seat for a few days. I always find that when I finally return to it I return with renewed energy and ideas. I love the yawn image by the way…. and I need a pair of those leg warmers.

sometimes, when those two act really bad I imagine those days when they are grown ups and don’t need so much attention anymore. When that time finally will come, I know I’ll be trying to go back in time and re-think, re-live the time when they were young… oh life!

Your precious daughters, those leg warmers, and pancakes, and the photo shoot? Fantastic! Your headaches? Dislike! Having to deal with those when you can’t really rest is the worst…as always, I love your “real life” photos, and to see you at work in a photo shoot was awesome – your results are beautiful! Have a wonderful weekend. 🙂

oh, I hate those headaches, I really do. There is nothing worst than having them while having screaming, running, jumping, laughing, and doing all the loudest things possible kids.
I hope your weekend is going well, Sherri!

Where to begin? such a wonderful ‘slice of life’ post…adorable kids and a dog, cool skirt and leggings, stunning captures of a beautiful model, a few selfies and some great food photography….all with a bad headache while on your own with two young kids…and you said you weren’t very busy? I am thinking you need to change your blog name to supermomphotographer!!

Janet, thank you so much! I think, that keeping myself so busy I try to deny the image of stay-at-home-mom as somebody who doesn’t do much, watch soap operas (which I do sometimes), and have plenty of time to go get her hair and nails done. This image of SAHM was in my head till I’ve became one. Now I think that all SAHM should be called super moms 😉

of course I am undone in deLIGHT at the many wonderful bits of this entire post. for me there are so many reasons to love it. it is real. it is simple. and yet simply reality it is NOT. how you capture what you DO, as if you have all the time in the World to compose a photograph, utterly astonishes me and ALL my senses. Number 2’s yawning photo is tremendous. and yet as soon as I say that I have to BEgin listing every shot’s astonishing characteristics. which I canNOT DO.

I will say that in your comments about more Real Life than Online Life the past week, I think there is a message for me. I had much MUCH [too much if you ask me, but since you didn’t…] overly much REAL WORLD TIME and it left me with a headache that is mostly in my heart. I feel such an emptiness, like all the air’s been sucked out of me, and what did it was the anger and irritation of the People Out There.

I am NOT an angry person [anymore] and I try with all my heart to see past irritation to the person. NOT that I need the WHY, but as you say of Number 1’s deLIGHT with the wind in her face, that is the sort of person I have BEcome. The sort who follows the thread back to the idea that inspired it BEing stitched in the first place.

For some reason there is this line from Steel Magnolias that I feel fitting, spoken by Shirley MacLaine’s character Ouiser Beaudreaux; “I’ve just been in a very bad mood for 40 years.” And it’s NOT even an exact quote, but the idea of it is how I feel after my week spending so much Real World In Your Face Time.

So, for me, coming here today, on this BEautimous Saturday afternoon, with the sky so blue and the sun so shiny, this is where I have come to drink my fill of generous souls and their magnificent play BEhind and BEyond the camera.

Feels good to get all that out of me and to close, please know how much your post each week lifts me and gives me new ways to see and many reasons to smile. Even if there is no wind blowing on my face!!!!
