365 Self-Portrait Project (week 31st)

This week there was a little too much crying and being fussy as for my taste. I’ve even considered buying a pacifier for our No. 2, but please DO NOT ENCOURAGE me to do so, because if I buy it I’m going to hate myself for doing it!

Afternoon at the park. Short break to snack on some apples…

…and back to having fun…

Happily Mother After

I made myself a headband. In one hour. Not bad, huh? Considering the fact that I didn’t use sewing machine for that and I’m not really good at sewing (with sewing machine or without) anyway… .

Some of you already know that I used be an Au Pair. That’s how I came to US.

On Sunday we’d visited Oakland and my host family. Those two little cuties on the right were 3 months old when I came to work with them.

Today they are 5, I’ve two kids on my own… and it seems like I’ve been changing diapers forever. lol.

Time flies like crazy.

Our daughter had so much fun playing and stealing other kids balloons:

Driving back home we had stopped to take a picture of this wonderful view to which I used to wake up for almost two years:

This week Bonnie’s theme is “gift(s)”.

So this is my virtual gift. Chocolate peanut butter cookies. From my kitchen, to yours šŸ™‚

Photo Art Friday

… and that’s how I’d looked for almost entire day on Tuesday. I could have changed but it doesn’t make sense. After 20 minutes I look the same. Our No. 2 is a Little Spitter :/

This week has been extremely busy for my husband and he hadn’t have the chance to help me with those two little stinkers. At the same time I do not dare to go and take a shower leaving them without my supervision. One time, I hadn’t been paying attention for a few minutes and this is what had happened when I wasn’t watching:Ā

By the time I saw it, No. 1 already had used almost the entire box of wipes for perfectly clean No. 2 (I had changed her few minutes before that).

She is such a crazy kid.

Today, for example, I woke up to her new song she has created.

It goes like that:

“I’m pooping.

I’m pooping.

I’m pooping.

I’m pooping.”

A few months back she was singing a song which will stay in my memory forever: “”Water, water, drink it.” x 10.

Gosh… she is so creative šŸ˜‰

Spinach corn bread…

Y.U.M.M.Y !!!

with some chard chips and beans (do not pay attention to the ketchup). SO DELICIOUS!

Please, do not be fooled by this little Miss HAPPY FACE Only When Mom’s Camera is ON. She already fooled my friend who calls her “The Zen Baby”. She always looks so content and happy whenever she sees the camera pointing at her.

looking up šŸ™‚

This kid is going to drive me insane pretty soon. She does not like to be left alone. She needs to be close to me almost all the time. And close means in her reach. If I get further than that she screams. The only time she is ok being by herself is when we are outside in the swimming pool area. She watches me and No. 1 swimming, eating her hands or feet, or perfecting her rolling over skills.

That’s why I’ve spent almost every single day this week at the pool. It gives me some time off from her. She is happy and I am happy and No.1 is in heaven. It’s a win win situation for everybody.

So, that having said, this is how I had to do the dishes today…

Hope you all are having a great week.

  1. They are both so adorable! And making up songs .. isn’t it the best thing about being a child? Love that you keep your project going and going – I wouldn’t want to miss you photos! They are great!

    1. thank you, Maria. it is a wonderful thing to be a child… too bad we, personally, do not remember that time. that’s why, as a parent, I want to remember those moments to remind her about it later in her life…

  2. Yes, very nice pictures, excellent framing, I like the swing.

  3. This was a special treat for me to share in your week and your little ones. I just love all the “background” chatter that adds to your wondrous photographs. I’d so love to indulge in those cookies, were they gluten-free. However just the thought does the trick!!

Thanks for visiting me. I couldn’t find your email to respond directly, but wanted you to know how much I appreciated your visit and comments.

    1. Hi Currie. It was a pleasure to see your art work!!!
as for the cookies… NO, they aren’t gluten-free. Just regular, but oh, so delicious cookies:

thank you so much for visiting back. have a wonderful day!

  4. have you tried to wear her(loads of baby wraps around)? I t might make the two of you happier all around!!

    1. oh no! that won’t work. I had a back injury a few years back and I already am in a huge pain every single day just by lifting her and moving from place to place. now I’m kind of used to this level of pain but wearing her would make in unbearable!

  5. Cute pictures. I really like the swing shots.

  6. Ha! You have to get creative. Our no. 2 is like this, much more than no. 1 was. It’s nice to have a little cuddlier, but it definitely does make it hard to get tasks, like the dishes, done.

    1. oh yeah… creativity and a lot of patience!!!
My husband always says that it is so nice that she is so cuddly when No. 1 wasn’t but whenever she gets fussy or bored being in one place he always handles her to me.

  7. Ohmygosh, those last couple of photos say it all…! They made me smile, but I’m sure you are ready to have some alone time (to say the least!!). And your daughter’s songs made me laugh out loud. I’m glad that you can at least relax a little while at the pool. Sending you calm and quiet…thanks so much for sharing your wonderful photos, as always. šŸ™‚

    1. thank you!!! it looks like today we are not going to have any quite time as No. 1 got sick and she shouldn’t go into the water… oh well, for know cartoons are doing the job.

  8. I know I’ve said this before, but hey I don’t think we get tired of hearing these things…I adore coming here and listening to your musings and like SherriB I laughed out loud at the song AND the picture of the two seconds you stepped away. I remember those days like yesterday, well there is a little numbness as the memory fades (smile), at the difficulty of it all at times. Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Kim, I always love to read your comments. And I appreciate the warmth in them. Thank you for visiting each week !

  9. thanks for the gift. šŸ™‚
Nice shots of your beautiful children.

    1. you’re welcome! wish I could share them with you all in real life šŸ™‚

  10. I am having a great week, thank you.
It’s been made better by reading your blog post…so caring and funny and real.
I, too, had one who had to be close, close, close
and then, at age 2.5, he became suddenly independent.
I think it was because he had learned that I would always be near if he needed me.
He is now grown and moved away,
but I always get hugs from him immediately when he sees me.
    So sweet.

    1. thank you, Deborah!
Our No.1 although she is very independent she always likes to be around us and gives us countless hugs and kisses through the day, but she has never been very needy like No. 2. They are totally different from the day one.
It is amazing how DIFFERENT two kids FROM THE SAME PARENT can be. It amazes me each time I think about it.

  11. Wow, what a great series of pictures! Your little girl is adorable. Thank you for the yummy chocolate peanut butter cookies.

    1. they are indeed yummy. My husband’s favorite, and whenever I make them I find myself digging into a cookies box more often then he does even though I swear I don’t like chocolate cookies… .

  12. The perfect gift- yum! Nice photo too:)

  13. I looked your many posts. There are many cute photos. Thank you for sharing with them.

    1. thank you for stopping by!

  14. Oh yum, I’ll take some of those cookies (not that I need them)!
Darling pictures of your girls. I especially liked the 2nd picture of No. 1 and in the Collage of No.2 that top left photo is priceless. You can see the little “impish” side to her in that one clearly.

    1. oh… you see that right, Ida! she gets what she wants and she is well aware of it šŸ˜‰
btw, I DO NOT need these cookies also, but gosh they are so good…

  15. OMGosh, Love this post it is so real life! Love your photos, and my grandson has a pooping song too. What is it with poop that fascinates kids? Anyway, love these!

Thanks so much for sharing with Foto Friday,

    1. you’re right they are fascinated with it, even more now when we potty train her. it is the silliest thing ever.

  16. another fabulous week of photos!

  17. Great images! (As always!)

    1. thank you. She loves to be on the swing, she is always super happy swinging! The higher, the better.

  18. The “little miss happy face” pics are gorgeous! What a cutie!

  19. How great that you are still in contact with your host family. Loving the cute smiles in those shots of #2 & I’m completely laughing at the song & the baby wipes incident.

    1. we live not that far from each other and, each year I try to go visit them for her b-day. As for my singer: she is simply crazy šŸ˜‰

  20. Paci mom here, so I say go for it if you think it will help. I’ve got a little clinger, too. If she can see me, it’s all over.

That’s great that you can still get together with your host family.

    1. Krystyn, so far I just put the on the floor wherever I am. Like if I’m in the kitchen, I just lay her there… and she is so happy just watching me. When I go swim with No. 1 I take her with us and put her on the blanket in a place where she can see us… and you know what… she is perfectly happy. It works most of the time. It’s a pain in the butt, but… oh well… she’ll grow out of it at some point… right?!
