365 Self-Portrait Project (week 8)

Since last Thursday we were busy going back and forth to a doctor’s office having all kinds of tests done and getting new information with each visit.

One of them was that I am really anemic.

Second was that I actually don’t have to suffer through such a big and rough heartburn and I can take something stronger than tums for it.

… and finally, we know what our baby’s sex is. FINALLY!!!

and this great news is my intro to week 8th of my 365 self-portrait project:

On Friday after doctor’s appointment I ended up with a wrist band which my daughter was very interested in. She didn’t want to wear it though. She wanted me to wear it all the time. Every time I took it off she would bring it back to me and tried to put it on my wrist. So I ended up wearing it for almost the entire day 🙂

Saturday,

lazy morning, in jammies, in bed, comfy.

Sunday early evening. Our entire family went for a walk.

You take the blue pill – the story ends, you wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill – you stay in Wonderland and I show you how deep the rabbit-hole goes.”

Nop, that pill didn’t take me to Wonderland. Too bad. I’m still here, waking up in my own bed every day believing in whatever I want to believe… a little bit healthier, though 🙂

One more doctor’s visit, a shot, new prescription, resting the rest of the day.

Boosting up my system with iron rich diet. My spinach-apple-pineapple-blueberry-chia smoothie. For breakfast and for dinner.

Thursday was my last visit at the doctor’s office for this week. We got the great news. Our Little One is going to have a Little Sister in a few weeks, and we got a date for my c-section. It’s pretty soon my friends, pretty soon 🙂 

When we got home I was exhausted. My husband had to get back to his work and my Little One refused to take a nap. So, I made myself a cup of coffee to keep up with her. Not very strong and with milk. Just to feel more awake. It helped!!!

Today’s morning. In between doing laundry and cleaning I had extra time to take that relaxing picture in which I’m enjoying my warm green tea with honey and lemon juice. Finally I do not have any heartburn after drinking it, and the whole world of food and drinks looks much more colorful and not that dangerous anymore. I enjoy it again!!!

    Thank you for sharing your photo-doc of life while pregnant with Photo Art Friday. Glad to hear you are feeling better. (I remember those days of having all-day-long ‘morning’ sickness – ugggh!) Hey I’m not pregnant now and still drink smoothies for lunch.

    Hi,

    You have an amazing eye for capturing everyday life. Thank-you for sharing your photographs.

    If you don’t mind, I have another food suggestion that will increase your iron intake.
    Cream of Wheat. It has the second highest iron content after Liver. You can find a box of Cream of Wheat at your local grocery store, in the isle where they sell oat meal. I always buy the 3 minute Cream of Wheat. It’s so much quicker to cook. I have also modified the cooking recipe.

    This is how I cook Cream of Wheat:

    1) I follow the suggested cooking method on the box.

    2) Instead of using water, I use milk.

    3) Just before the milk goes to a boil, I quickly take the pan off the stove element and add 2 tablespoons of sugar. You can adjust the amount of sugar to your taste buds. While stirring, slowly add the amount of cream of wheat specified for the amount of liquid you used. Stir thoroughly.

    4) Put pan back onto stove and allow it to come to a boil. Stir, stir, stir. Quickly reduce heat on stove to medium high. Stir then stop and continue this pattern. Never leave the pot alone since the milk could easily burn. As soon as you see it bubbling 4 or 5 times and it becomes thick you are done. Quickly pour mixture onto a flat dinner plate and allow to cool for 5 minutes.

    5) In order to not burn yourself, start eating your cream of wheat from the outside, clockwise or counter clockwise since the middle will be toooooo hot. Work your way inward.

    During my pregnancies, I ate Cream of Wheat about 3 times a week.

      OMG! I did forget about the Cream of Wheat. I used to feed it to my daughter when she was starting solid food diet. I used to eat it with her. I really like it!!!

      I don’t have as many photos of me while I was pregnant with my first one and I’m hoping that my daughter will not feel mad at me or jealous of her Little Sister being in so many pictures (even if still inside me) later in her life 😉

    this project is a recorded family history from the belly up..it will provide a journal for your children and for your friends as well as print potential for those who do not access it online…i have so little material to prove that i had a youth, or lived through so much, and when my memories fade with me, i will only have some stories printed or on the web for my children to carry on…
    i find old photographs in charity shops and realize how little some descendants care about their lineage..shame..we are what we have seen..and i see that you are beautiful…

      You know, my family doesn’t have many photographs from the time when we were young. I’ve got maby 5 pictures from between when I was a newborn to 5 years old. As a teenager I wouldn’t let anybody to take a picture of me so I ended up with just a few pictures of me from those years as well.
      Today-this project has turned into a real journal… not only my portraits. I’m hoping to make it into a photo book at the end 🙂

        just the right amount of time to engage big sister to feel love for the sounds of new life in mama’ s tummy..gas bubbles included..it’s music to the family, she will be praised for her helper role, and tender ways…the big one probably needs more hugs than the new one..oh and daddy too? and especially MAMA..

          we all are going to need more hugs 🙂 we will be hugging each other and praising each other for all the help we will give to each other 🙂 I hope that will give that Big Sister the feeling that she is not pushed away… and don’t you worry there will be plenty of swipping and dish-washer unloading, and taking dirty diapers to the trash she’ll be able to do for me 😉 I’ll keep her very engaged!!!

            little Polish mama, you remind me of someone i have lost,( me), the other me, mommy me..and your girl resembles my oldest, i had sons, but kids are kids first.. in France mine stood on a stool to wash dishes, loved water..i still don’t have a dishwasher, i love water too.
            my best to you during those days of preparing and healing and feeding, you are so good for children..and husband i’ m glad i found you at this time ewa.

            the intrinsic values which we carry over are proof of the beneficial effect of diversity upon a dynamic society..i once had planned to form an international venue for artists of all ilks..work and family put the brakes upon my visions..now i content myself to communicate with a few, and am happy to do so..it is comforting to watch you and your family develop out there.
