Broken me and california giant strawberries

So, I’ll start with the broken reflected self-portrait.

And that’s exacty how I feel for the last few days. My head is killing me. I feel like I’m made from glass, broken and there is only a cardboard on the back of it keeping it all stick together. Sometimes I feel like I’m getting paralyzed by those headaches… From the top of my head to the tips of my fingers… It’s an aweful feeling!

… but despite my headache I’m really happy to see a photo challenge calling for “reflections” 🙂 LOVE LOVE LOVE pictures of reflections!

… and finally I’ve started to use more options while editing pictures. Before I’d had my routine: changing brightness, contrast, color balance, adding some softglow, sharpens, working on layers from now and then…

A few weeks ago I’ve dicovered the world of textures… Two days ago… I started to use the “CURVES” option more often 🙂 Actually it’s pretty cool and very helpful if you want to make LOMO or VINTAGE-like pictures… I downloaded an action (in GIMP it’s called a script) that can do it with one click… but while using the “curves” option I feel like I have more control, and I see the progress of this effect step by step.

For a Macro Friday I took some yummy pictures of our strawberry/ies.

One is ready to be picked (the strawberry, not the picture :-P), but we don’t know who should do it… I say, it’s my husband’s plant so he should do it. He says that I should do it… Today I know why he wants me to do it instead of him. He doesn’t know HOW TO PICK A STRAWBERRY. ROFL

Could you imagine! That’s so funny! That’s why he doesn’t want to do that! I mean not because it’s funny but because he doesn’t know how! 😉

So here it is! So called California’s Giant Strawberry! Does it look like a GIANT strawberry !?! I bet it taste like GIANT strawberry would taste… 😉

I’m afraid to taste it because the hit from it might be GIGANTIC… Too powerful for a little woman like me!

We’ve got two more… still green… but looking very promising… not gigantic though 😛

I remember when I was a kid I used to eat those green strawberries. Not quite riped but not totally green and hard… Those are the best! Sooo tasty!!! I’m weird… I know!

Love the reflections! Hope you feel better. I have a dear friend who has had headaches since her child was born (turns out probably the epidural did it). Have you gone to a doctor yet for it? Prayers to you.

That’s so funny that he has never picked a strawberry. I grew up every year going to a local farm as long as I remember and picking whatever they would let us with my mother and sibling. I took my kids every week that we could until we moved, now I have to find a farm to replace that. So, both were only a bare few months old learning to sit and would sit in the strawberry field just tearing at plants and relishing strawberry freshness still warm from the sun in their mouths and all over themselves.

You should have him pick it with your help so that he learns how to. Did you know that there is a thing called Nature Deficit Disorder? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nature_deficit_disorder
I consider it very real and can tell who has it and think it’s sad for them 🙁 So, make him pick that berry and eat it! Tell him it’s Polish therapy for him… lol

Ale kocham truskawki! When I was pregnant last time, I was fed the wild strawberries in Poland, oh my goodness, they are so good! Nothing like the little “rabbit strawberries” that are called wild strawberries here.

    Hugs!

Love your macros and the grainy texture of your self portrait. It really gives it depth. I’m hosting a Texture Twist photo challenge, pop on over and share this with us!

Ooh – Those broken-mirror shots are stellar.
    Especially that second one.

    It’s so delightfully symbolic!
The English teacher in me is just eating that up right now…
